The Cars of The Reed Montgomery Series

It’s no secret that I’m a motor head, and many of my characters share my addiction! Collected here is a list, complete with photographs*, of the best cars that appear in the Reed Montgomery Series.

2015 Camaro Z/28. The flagship car of Overwatch, the 2015 Z/28 is one of my all-time favorite Camaros. My love for this model of Camaro dates back to my college years, when a friend of mine owned a 1993 Camaro Z/28 and we used to drive it to the beach. On one such occasion I got it stuck in the sand and neglected to install the T-tops before trying to wiggle it free. The back tires dumped a rooster tail of sand directly into the car, and despite aggressive vacuuming most of that sand remained until the day he sold it.

Note: Reed’s car was jet black in Overwatch, and was supercharged and covered in a red wrap during the first part of Total War.

1972 Super Beetle. Also appearing in Overwatch and Hunt to Kill, Banks Morccelli’s ride is my wife’s favorite classic car. As an inside joke I described Banks’s car as missing one hub cap. Late one night after an eight hour drive I hit a curb and knocked the front left hubcap off my wife’s 2014 Volkswagen Beetle, and was too tired to retrieve it. My wife eventually received a replacement hubcap, but Banks never did.

2018 Mercedes S Class AMG Coupe. The hallmark ride of The Wolf, this car first appears on the pages of Hunt to Kill alongside Banks’s Super Beetle and stuck around for most of series. I wouldn’t call myself a Mercedes guy, but I’d drive this beast in a heartbeat. Complete with 463 horsepower and rear-wheel driven, the S Class AMG coupe is both high-performance and high luxury, all at once. Just like Wolfgang.

2019 BMW M2 Competition Coupe. Joining the story in Survivor and sticking around through the start of Death Cycle, the BMW M2 was Reed’s choice for a more subtle car that didn’t sacrifice performance. Featuring 405 horsepower and only weighing 3,600 pounds, this little car is lightning quick and elegantly so.

Note: Reed’s car was jet black, not charcoal grey.

2019 Maserati Quattroporte. Appearing only once in the series at the opening of Death Cycle, this car is described as Aiden’s sole extravagance, but what an extravagance it is! Another high-powered, high-luxury option.

Note: Aiden’s precise model was the Maserati Quattroporte Trofeo.

AM General High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, a.k.a., Humvee. Variants of this all-terrain behemoth appear in Sandbox, with Reed’s most iconic use occurring in Death Cycle. These vehicles are powered by a diesel engine and feature ignition toggles instead of keys.

Note: The Humvees appearing in Sandbox were desert tan, some of which featured 50 caliber machine gun mounts on the roof. The Humvees in Death Cycle were all matte black, without gun turrets.

1969 Camaro Z/28. Referenced throughout the series is David Montgomery’s 1969 Camaro. I selected this model for the series based on the story of an identical car which was used to run drugs from Florida to California during the 1970s, and was captured after running out of fuel during a high speed chase. You can learn more about the story of that car by checking out this video.

Note: David Montgomery’s Camaro was rally green with white stripes, identical to the one in the video, not orange with black stripes.
